About Mary Silver

Mary Silver – Artist, Educator, and Arts Advocate

Mary Silver is a dedicated art educator, painter, and Chair of the Raleigh Arts Commission. With a passion for creating and teaching, Mary has spent years nurturing young artists through high school art programs, including AP Art & Design and Art Portfolio classes, where she inspires students to explore diverse media, develop their artistic voice, and build meaningful portfolios.

As a painter, Mary explores the beauty of macro photography, mixed-media, encaustic and other media. Her art reflects a deep appreciation for form, line, color, texture, and emotion through vibrant color palettes and expressive brushwork.

As Chair of the Raleigh Arts Commission, Mary is committed to shaping public art policies and fostering community engagement through the arts. She advocates for inclusive initiatives that celebrates creativity across Raleigh, ensuring that art remains a vital part of the city's identity.
